PROGRAMMING/COMMUNITY OUTREACH/EVENT PLANNING BackList's mission is to keep books in style. We produce creative programming, events, and initiatives to connect more readers with books. We are developing several BackList programming projects, but also seek to partner with individuals, organizations, and publishers with shared literary visions. 2007 Up South International Literary Festival In conjunction with Up South, Inc. and YB Literary Foundation, BackList is co-curating the children's programming of the Up South International Literary Festival which takes place September 19-23, 2007 in Harlem, New York. Programming includes children's literary treasure hunt and interactive reading event with hip-hop artist and author Common. Click here to view the event flyer.

In partnership with Akashic Books, BackList planned and hosted a cultural event, reading, and gathering featuring Jamaican authors Marlon James and Christopher John Farley. PUBLISHING WORKSHOPS Book publishing can be a confusing industry. Writers need to understand the biz. BackList provides publishing talks and workshops to empower writers about the business side of their craft. BackList is available to give talks to your book club, university, writer's group, as well as provide individual sessions. In conjunction with Mediabistro.com, BackList founder, Felicia Pride also conducts GET YOUR BOOK PUBLISHED, an overview of the publishing process.
